Professional Sports Pitch Construction in Zimbabwe
Orangeturf builds competition-grade sports pitches for schools, clubs, municipalities, hotels and resorts across Zimbabwe. From football and rugby fields to cricket squares, hockey turfs and multi-use games areas, we deliver surfaces that play well, drain fast and stay safe for athletes – backed by 17+ years of construction and sports-turf experience.
A great pitch is built below the surface. We engineer sub-bases and drainage that clear water in minutes, shape falls so the surface stays true, select turf and seed suited to the local climate and usage levels, and install irrigation that keeps grass healthy through the season. Cutting corners underground is why so many pitches fail after one rainy season – we do not cut them.
Every project is delivered by our in-house civils, turf and irrigation crews, giving schools and clubs one accountable team, transparent itemised quotations and a finished pitch that is match-ready on schedule.
What Our Sports Pitch Construction Includes
We tailor every pitch to your sport, usage and budget. Our scope can include:
- Site survey, design and earthworks
- Grading and land shaping to competition falls

- Natural turf seeding and sodding (kikuyu, ryegrass, bermuda)
- Hybrid and reinforced turf systems for high-traffic areas
- Full pitch irrigation design and installation
- Running tracks, surrounds and field enclosures
- Line marking, goalposts and equipment installation
- Renovation, levelling and resurfacing of existing pitches
Our Sports Pitch Construction Process
Every project follows a disciplined, transparent process:
- Consultation and site assessment. We study soil, drainage, water supply, aspect and your usage schedule, then agree on the sport specification.
- Design and itemised quotation. You receive a construction plan with layers, materials and transparent pricing – no hidden costs.
- Construction by in-house crews. Earthworks, drainage, base layers and irrigation proceed in coordinated stages with weekly progress reports.
- Turfing, marking and handover. We establish the surface, mark lines, train your grounds team and support the first seasons of growth.

Sports Pitch Construction FAQs
How long does a sports pitch take to build?
A standard school football pitch typically takes six to twelve weeks from earthworks to first play, depending on drainage scope, weather and turf establishment. We agree a realistic programme up front and report progress weekly.
How much does sports pitch construction cost?
Costs depend on size, drainage requirements, turf choice (natural, hybrid or reinforced) and irrigation scope. After a site assessment we provide an itemised quotation so you can approve the project in stages.
Can you renovate an existing worn-out pitch?
Yes. Most worn pitches need drainage improvement, levelling and re-turfing rather than a complete rebuild. We assess what is salvageable and quote accordingly – often saving clubs and schools significant money.
